NILAI – Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), through the Faculty of Leadership and Management (FKP), organized the Forum of Madani Intellect titled “Student & Knowledge Integration Culture”. The forum featured YB Senator Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), and was held at Lecture Hall 1.2, Faculty of Leadership and Management, on January 15, 2025.
The event was attended by prominent figures, including Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Sharifudin Md Shaarani, Vice-Chancellor of USIM; Prof. Dato’ Dr. Adnan Mohamed Yusoff, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs); Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd Rushdan Mohd Jailani, Dean of the Faculty of Leadership and Management; and Mr. Shahrizal Mat, Director of the Youth Leadership Department of the Malaysian Islamic Da’wah Foundation (YADIM). Around 200 students from various academic programs also participated in the forum.
Themed “Students & Science Integration Culture”, this knowledge-sharing event aimed to expose students to the concept of Malaysia Madani. The forum focused on thoughtful discussions about the importance and challenges of da’wah in Islam, highlighting the application of virtues to build students’ character as future leaders of the nation.
YB Senator Dr. Zulkifli Hasan emphasized the significance of knowledge integration in shaping students into capable leaders. He introduced the concept of MADANI, which envisions a nation built on a balance of creativity, respect, belief, and goodness. MADANI serves as a principle for fostering a just, inclusive, and prosperous society.
Dr. Zulkifli also highlighted the importance of renewal (tajdid), reform (islah), and enlightenment (nahdah) in reviving civilizations through the cultivation of knowledge, culture, and Islamic values. He encouraged students to act as agents of change by promoting correct thoughts and worldviews. Universities, he added, should not only impart knowledge but also nurture holistic human development.
“In facing the realities of a post-normal world, students need to adapt to new approaches that utilize technology, open-mindedness, and the unity of knowledge in practice,” he said. Dr. Zulkifli further stressed the need to replace outdated narratives with actionable strategies, sensitive policies, and insightful leadership. He concluded that the integration of knowledge is the key to the revival of civilizations and the development of progressive societies.
The forum’s objectives included guiding students’ thinking processes and raising their awareness to prepare them for the challenges facing the Islamic world. It underscored the need for students to develop intellectual strength and honorable character to serve as the nation’s future leaders. USIM remains committed to producing learned individuals with noble characteristics and leadership qualities, fostering a culture of knowledge, and cultivating critical, creative, and positive thinking among its students.
The event concluded with the handover of an Al-Quran waqf donation from FKP to Ustazah Rahimi Shaari, a community activist in Negeri Sembilan, in collaboration with the Salwa Malaysia Organization (SALWA).
