i-Sign QURANIS

BACKGROUND

i-Sign QurANIS is an interactive courseware for the deaf in learning basics of Quran and Ibadah (Worship). It will assist the Muslim Deaf community in understanding Islamic fundamental elements. The main objective of the development is to fulfill the spiritual needs of the Muslim Deaf Community based on their skills, strengths and learning differences. The courseware is comprised of 2 segments whereby the first segment features information on selected Quran Chapters and basics of Ibadah (Wudhu’ and Solat) with new transliteration method, Malaysian Sign Language (BIM) interpretation video and Quran translation for the deaf. The ADDIE model approach was used to develop the courseware. Various software were chosen in the development phase of i-Sign QurANIS, such as Articulate Storyline 2, Adobe Photoshop CS6, Sony Vegas Pro 12 and NCH Suite. To conclude, this courseware – the first of its kind – provides the opportunity for the deaf to learn Islamic Education by leveraging on their strengths and capabilities. It features a degree of uniqueness and sustainability whereby the content can be distributed according to stages.
